Turning our pastrami into "bacon" may have been a mistake one of our customers made by over heating their meat, but it turned into a fantastic new sandwich. Pastrami, Lettuce, (local) Indiana Tomatoes (in the summer time) is such a great combination of flavor.

Corned Beef Sandwich
Our corned beef comes from Vienna Beef in Chicago and we are the only place in Indy to get it! The best of the best, we slow-cook it in-house to our own exacting standards and from our own 110 year old family recipe. Piled high on our mouthwatering rye, served with your choice of mustard. Delish!
Our pastrami comes from a custom cut of meat, lightly smoked and sent from the pastrami masters of the Universe in Brooklyn, NY directly to Shapiro’s kitchen where we cook it ourselves. Where else can you get that? ONLY at Shapiro’s! Ours is lean and delicious and one-of-a-kind. Served on your choice of bread (but you should really try the rye), with your choice of mustard. You can ask for mayo but you may not get it.
We take this traditional favorite to another gastronomical level! Our famous corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing all stacked on our house-baked rye and sizzled to perfection!
New York Reuben
Another take on our award winning sandwich. Delicious corned beef piled on top of Swiss cheese but tucked inside is our own cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. Thousand Island dressing is smeared on to our house-baked, hand cut rye bread just before it is grilled to deliciousness.
Fresh cooked daily, our lean beef brisket is thinly sliced and piled high on your choice of bread.
It’s a slow process but we take beef round that has been salted, washed, cured for a few days then peppered, smoked, and dusted with a little sugar and paprika. If that “oh, wow that’s delicious” lip-smacking sound could be turned into words they’d definitely be: Shapiro’s Peppered Beef! Add a slice or two of your favorite cheese and you’ve got a sandwich you won’t soon forget.
Rare Roast Beef
Another fabulous sandwich in the beef category. Our rare roast beef is cooked to a beautiful pink tenderness for a moist treat on any bread. Top it off with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato or an onion slice for optional additions.
Don't knock it until you've tried it. And Shapiro's is one of the only places that you can actually get it! Shapiro's has made this from a decades old recipe that Great Uncle Abe created.
Smoked or oven roasted, this is actually a very big seller for Shapiro's! The Shapiro turkey sandwich has its own cult following. Hormone free and antibiotic free, you can taste why it's a favorite.
Chicken Salad Sandwich
We actually cook whole fresh, local chickens (never, ever frozen) for our homemade chicken salad. Named “best in America” by Gourmet Magazine because frankly, it is. Chicken, celery, grapes, pecans or walnuts (depending on the chef’s preferred nut of the day), fancy mayo and our proprietary blend of herbs and seasonings. Try it on our freshly-baked sourdough or a flaky croissant.
Custom made for Shapiro's Delicatessen from the original Wilno recipe. They used to be a Kosher brand of salami and other meats that went the way of the big box buy-out. If you look on the salami label, you'll see the Shapiros logo on our salamis.
What more can we say? Chopped liver. If you like it, you will LOVE ours. We add schmaltz. If you don't know what schmaltz is, go for it because you won’t find it on many menus and you definitely won’t find better anywhere.
