I had a customer write in to ask why we didn’t offer our regular parking coupon this past Sunday for the Colt’s game. The following is my response to him and may clear up the confusion that many of our loyal customers had over this.
Thank you for writing about your concerns. We greatly appreciate you loyalty to Shapiro’s Delicatessen.
Since Sunday was January 1st, we have regular customers that always come in to eat our corned beef and cabbage. Today, however was also a home Colt’s game. This complicated things greatly for parking in our lot. January first is a HUGE day at Shapiro’s! We told many customers that called to come between 1 and 3:30 or 4:30 till 8pm, to avoid the Colt’s traffic. However, we needed parking places for them to park. I had customers tell me that they parked ‘down the block’ and paid $10 to park. That was actually our hope. We needed extra spots for our customers NOT going to the game.
Shapiro’s will continue our parking voucher next season for our ‘favorite’ Colt’s parking customers! This was for today only! We just needed to provide parking for ALL of our customers, those going to the game and those just wanting to start 2017 off with their favorite corned beef and cabbage. Thank you for your understanding and for sharing your parking spots with the other Shapiro’s customers as well.
Thank you for writing to tell me of your concerns. We appreciate ALL of our customers; those going to the game and those just wanting to have, what we hope is, the best corned beef and cabbage on January first! We hope to keep you as a loyal Shapiro’s/Colt’s customer in the next season!
